Welcome to Cordova Immigration Law’s page for Professional Surfers. Our firm is passionate about surfing and the professional development of the sport, and we devote a substantial portion of our practice representing professional and amateur surfers of extraordinary ability who enter the United States to compete in the WQS circuit as well as the ASP World Tour. Our firm also represents accompanying coaches and surf industry officials and representatives who must enter the U.S. on moment’s notice whenever the next big swell hits.
Our Personal Devotion to Surfing
Vidal Cordova’s journey as a surfer began in 2003 as a law student while browsing surfing instructional books at a local bookstore during a study session break. After a few chapters learning the fundamentals, renting a board and heading off for St. Augustine, Florida, he was hooked for life after riding his first wave. After law school, Vidal left the east coast of Florida for Atlanta, Georgia, where he built his immigration law experience with Cohen & Associates and Paul Hastings. When making the six-hour drive from inland Georgia to the coast proved to be unfeasible, Vidal aimed westbound to San Diego and traded big law firm practice for small practice in San Diego and access to the surf-rich coast of the Pacific coast.

As a devoted surfer himself, Vidal understands the unpredictability of swell periods and conditions, as well as processing times at consulates and with the immigration service, and their effect of athletes’ travel plans to the U.S. In this regard, he is dedicated to providing immigration solutions to surfers from around the world who come to the U.S. to compete, train, and perform sponsorship obligations related to surfing. Whether it’s an O visa for extraordinary ability, EB-1 immigrant petitions for extraordinary ability or B-1 visa, our firm will work tirelessly to ensure that you are prepared and fully covered to make your next heat!
